Debra started her career as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, graduating with a MSN from the University Of Texas Medical Branch in 1986. She went on to work on the Pediatric Trauma Teams at Egleston Hospital/Emory University and in the Pediatric ICU at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, among other pediatric roles. Debra later moved on to work with adults and then into corporate medicine. She spent 12 years working within the Medicare Anti-Fraud Program in varied roles. She returned to school and obtained her formal education as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), graduating from the University of North Florida in 2005. She has worked in family practice, hospital, correctional institutions, ER, and most recently in Urgent Care (Current).
Debra is a board certified FNP, has her ACLS, BCLS and PALS certifications. She also obtained National Department of Transportation Medical Examiner (CME) certification this year (2014).
Debra has been married to her husband Chuck for 7 ½ years, and is the proud parent of two teen children – William and Allison, and stepmom to Jonathan and his wife, Leslie. She and her family have bred and donated multiple golden retrievers to become Seeing Eye dogs and to the K9 for Warriors project. In her free time, she and her family love to travel and just plain hang out.
